At the end of 2024, the inauguration of the second production site in Schweighouse-sur-Moder marked a key milestone in the company’s development. This expansion’s main goal is to support Naturalvi’s business growth.
The acquisition of the building, formerly occupied by Trivium, was finalized in July 2022 after several months of negotiations. With its 5,700 m², it offers new perspectives by increasing production capacity and optimizing storage and workspaces.
Production at this site began in May 2023, marking an important first step in the operation of this new location.
Anne Baumuller, CEO of Naturalvi, reviews this major development.
Anne Baumuller at the inauguration evening of Naturalvi’s second site.
Why did you choose to acquire a second production site?
Anne: In 2019, the demand for our products increased significantly, requiring us to expand our production capacity and, therefore, secure more space. The opportunity to acquire a building so close to our main factory—just 200 meters away—, and it was an opportunity we couldn’t miss!
What does this expansion change for Naturalvi?
Anne: It increases production capacity while also optimizing risk management by separating activities. The proximity to our original site makes coordination easier without disrupting our employees’ work environment.
What impact has this new site already had on production and services?
Anne: Thanks to this expansion, our machine park has doubled, and our responsiveness has improved. The increased storage capacity also allows us to consider new projects with greater confidence. Our expertise remains our greatest asset, as pioneers in the paper packaging industry.
Have any specific improvements been made?
Anne: Our production equipment is brand new and was designed and built by our own teams. Since the building dated back to the 1970s, significant improvements were necessary—not only for setting up production equipment (especially everything surrounding our production lines) but also to optimize energy efficiency. Heating, lighting, energy sources, and accessibility were also redesigned to create a more efficient and less energy-consuming site.
What feedback have you received from your teams since it became operational?
Anne: That’s a question best answered by them, as it’s hard to speak on their behalf. What’s certain is that none of this would have been possible without our teams. The environment at Site 2 is undeniably more pleasant, and the expansion, along with the optimization of workspaces, has improved production conditions and movement within the facility, making daily operations smoother and more comfortable.
With this expansion, Naturalvi has reached a significant milestone in its development. Production capacity has been strengthened, infrastructure has been optimized, and the future is being shaped with a new food safety certification. The teams are fully committed to these advancements, and more exciting projects will be coming soon.
